joypad object and unplugged controller movement

i made a game using the keyboard for input, and later added the joypad object to use a controller. it works good while controller is plugged in, but when i remove controller my character begins moving on his own.. ?

i can still move him with the keyboard, but he still wants to walk off on his own.

any help on why that happens?

Do you think its pretty common people will be unplugging the controller while they play the game?

sorry i didnt explain well enough, ingame removal is fine, unplug and still all good.

its when i start the game without a controller plugged in when the issue occurs.
