Collision detection of backdrop objects not working outside of original frame.

    Ok, I'll try and explain.

I have a screen resolution of 480x320, but my frame size is much bigger (1000x1000)

At the start of the frame I move an active around the frame and paste it into the background as an obstacle.
it's set to be always active and active out of frame.

    This basically creates the level.

On PC, no matter where I move as I scroll around, the collision detection works fine, but on iOS, as soon as my character leaves the original 480x320 region, all collision detection with backdrop objects stops working. They aren't getting culled, they still appear as they should, but its as if they have been created with not-an-obstacle instead of obstacle setting.

If I increase my resolution to 720x480, then the collision on the iPhone works within those regions but not outside.

I have no solution for this.

Anyone experience anything similar? really do with some help!

Just to update, I've tried placing backdrop objects with obstacle-on next to active objects that are pasted into the scene with obstacle-on and only the backdrop objects have functional collision.

Any help on this? Am I just being stupid?

In the properties of your actives that are having collision problems, go to the Run Time options tab and make sure "Inactive if too far from window" is set to "No".
Also, in the properties of the current frame you are having trouble with (again under Run Time options tab), make sure the "Handle background collisions even out of window" is checked.

    Hey RhysD,

    Thanks for the suggestions.
As I said in my OP
it's set to be always active and active out of frame.
So it's already set to never be inactive if too far from window.

I forgot to mention it in the OP but "Handle BG collisions even out of window" is also checked.

    Still not working :-/

I had this problem a few months back, my enemies were player objects which moved left and right but once they were off the screen they would sink into the floor until back on the screen again, I was never able to solve the problem no matter what I did so scrapped it for an easier left/right only movement.

    Francois,

    Merci beaucoup pour l'information!

I will continue on PC for the time being then, which, based on sales of our previous app is probably the best place for an old school pixel game anyway!
