Questions about iOS Exporter and Xcode

    Hi there,

I've just acquired the iOS exporter and would like to do some testing. I've downloaded Xcode, but honestly I'm completely lost with it. I've built my test app from MMF2 Dev, but don't know what to do with it in Xcode. I couldn't find any tutorials or help with this online, unless I'm just looking in the wrong places. Also, must I already be registered as an apple developer? If so, does this mean I must be paying the yearly fee to register as a developer? Or does that just come when I'm ready to start launching my games on the AppStore?

One other things that I don't quite understand is the Joystick Control Object. I currently have my actions set to "When Arrow Key is pressed" etc, and of course it tells me thats not a valid action when I export the game. I can't figured out HOW to tell the Joystick Object to actually do anything, other than alterable values - and I wouldn't know what values to specify for moving the stick left/right/etc. I feel like I'm using the wrong object, too as everyone is calling it the "iOS Joystick Object" online. I don't seem to have an "iOS Joystick" in my list of objects.

Any help? I really appreciate your time.

I'm getting a little further with it, but when I try and run the application, I'm getting 30 errors. I've not got much going on in my test game, so I'm not sure what's going on... The number of errors seems to vary each time I try running it - they range from 4 to 30. I'm guessing part of it will be due to me leaving keyboard controls in there?

As far as I know you have to be a member, so that means you need to pay up the 99 dollar to get the sdk. but not sure it's been awhile since I bought it.

And the joystick controller doesn't work the way you discribe it. there's a joystick function in the properties, which will work.

Once you have the final game done and all working.

I found another handy guide from Apple about the steps for getting it on the App Store.

    https://developer.apple.com/library/...rAppStore.html

Once you have exported your game out from MMF to xcode its follows the same path all iOS Apps follow.
Complex and confusing because its how it is.

Once you stumble thru it a few times it will become easier ... then of course apple will change something so next time you do it, it will be slightly different.

Thanks for the replies. That info will be helpful in the future for me Jeff. I feel really silly about the joystick problem (It's been many years since I've used MMF properly) Got that sorted now.

After a lot of exploring inside of Xcode, I think I'm finally doing things right. I can now see my game in the simulator. How do I compile the game from here to test it on an iPhone? If this isn't possible without being registered as a developer, is there a way to test the joypad controls in the simulator?

You can test the controls using the mouse cursor. But other than that, you need to pay the member fee to run it on a device.

Does this only work for certain touch controls? I noticed holding down the Alt key seems to enable multitouch. I'm using joypad controls, but don't see the joypad or buttons on screen in the simulator, is this normal?
