    Lag Tag

I've been working on reducing slowdown in my game, chopping up graphics to power of 2 tiles and such, but am still seeing slowdown on some machines. With Direct3D9 on my machine (Dell laptop 2009, Windows 7) it runs close to perfect. My friend is running Windows 7 on a and he reports lag throughout. Is anyone willing to take a look at my project file and see if they can locate the source of the lag? I've tried all other options and while they have largely helped, for this last mile I think it would be most helpful to have a hardened pro take a peek. Let me know if you're willing to help and I can post or email the mfa file.

Just post the mfa file if you can. I'll be happy to take a look. Though I won't be able to look until later tonight.

Just a thought, but it's possible his graphics card isn't as powerful as the one in your PC.

That doesn't really help too much, since Direct3D automatically stores them as powers of two. The only reason it would help is if you cut down to the next lowest power of two. A 257x257 object will be treated like a 512x512, but cutting it down a pixel will make it an even 256x256.

So that only works in iOS because it doesn't use Direct 3d?

No, what I'm saying is that resizing images to the next larger power of two doesn't really help. Go smaller.
