Monetizing Foreign Traffic on SWF Ads?

Has anyone found a way to monetize their foreign traffic? Mochi paid me $250 for 2,000,000 plays, most of which came from China. I'm using my own ads now, but they aren't converting well. Google is paying me about .01 a click for foreign traffic.

The problem is that chinese sites (such as 7k7k.com) are blocking outgoing links.. but even so, mochi pays 0.10$ eCPM, which i think is fair, considering clicking the ad doesn't do anything.

What i have tried to do is make a backup system for my links, so if the actual link is blocked, the game still goes to another frame showing the url in box so the user can copy-paste. And i am getting quite a bit of my website traffic from china, so it seems to work. But still as you said, chinese google-ad clicks don't really count for much.

That's interesting, but how do you test for the link being blocked?

Ive been thinking about ways to combat that problem too. I was planning to do something like, creating custom ads with affiliate links that cater to markets in Asia etc. Unfortunately Mochi doesn't allow 3rd party ad content to be coupled with their ads in distribution, so Im currently unsure if affiliate links would be allowed at all.

The copy-paste link thing seems like a solid method for link blockers.

I don't think you would even have to test for link blocking though. If a user clicks on a link, simply have the selectable text box appear. Chances are if the link actually worked most users wont see it, it would only be seen if the link went nowhere.

Oh... I gotcha. That's a good idea. I'll try that in my next game to see if the stats are any different.
