    Two additional questions:

If a person deletes an app, then what?
If me as the developer issues an update to an app, can i protect the original ini? or would it get deleted - still finding this confusing.

I am moving over to iAPs for my next games as after testing paid and iAds, I really do believe this is the best option, just need to understand how it works in certain circumstances

Thanks SevenSails, posted while you were posting

Just tried an app i purchased and it indeed had a restore option. So thats cool. The coins i had already used up and so they were no longer available. Still worried about how to manage consumables in app that isn't being restored.

Basically non-consumables are tied to the iTunes account, and can be restored after a reinstall or transferred over to another device. Consumables can't unless you implement your own system.

It is generally accepted that if you delete an app from your device then any consumables will go with it. However, I'm sure if you can find a solution, more people will likely invest in your consumable iAPs.

Yeah that all makes sense, and at least its a lot clearer in how i might design my future game ideas around iAP.

    Thanks for the information

For me I've been thinking about iAps for a while, just havent had an app made that is appropriate, I've done alright in iAds for simple apps, few hundred dollars here and there, but its all small fry to what I want to be making.

What about installing updates to an app? Does anyone have any recommendations, for example say i save everything in a ini file, like coins - when i install an update surely this could overwrite this file? How does everyone handle this?

    Thanks

    Jason

I don't think it overwrites it. Whenever I compile a new version of my app and load it onto my device the ini files remains, so I'm sure it's the same when it's updated from the appstore.

I can confirm the above about the Ini data, it doesn't get overwritten after an update.

EDIT: Unless you attach an Ini file in the data elements, don't know if this is possible though.

I guess if you wanted to add further data elements in an update you would probably be best served creating a new ini to contain whatever data you need?

    I'm planning to start developing a bit bigger game (after I get my ancient Mac Mini upgraded) which would be utilizing IAP. Couple of questions I'm wondering;

    1. Is it safe to save consumable item status, i.e. how many items the user has left, locally to the INI object? Can the INI be hacked easily, so that someone could just go and easily add as much items as he likes without actually purchasing anything?

    2. Does anyone have experience on Apple's review policy in regards to using terms like "coins", or "money" for consumable items? It seems that this leads to app being rejected, at least Apple's IAP guidelines state that "You may not offer items that represent intermediary currency because it is important that users know the specific good or service that they are buying". So I guess "coins" is forbidden, though I recall many games using it...

    3. Is it OK to build IAP / iOS Store functionality inside a sub-app (another frame from same application) in MMF? Is it supposed to work normally within sub-app just like on any other frame?
