Rather interesting novelty iphone cabinet like the iCade.

It's called the 'Arcadie Arcade' but the only problem is that it does not use bluetooth or wifi to register the buttons, it uses some plug in method.

It looks rather interesting, you slide your iphone in to the shell clicking it into the pin dock inside, only the top half of the screen is visible but you then get a joystick and 2 buttons to play their free games on the app store, which are just all clones of classic arcade games so far.

Anyone have any idea if this would somehow work with a custom extension made for mmf2? I think some impressive games could be made for such a thing.

Yeah, I've seen this, nice and affordable! The pain in the arse is the fact that again it works completely differently, so despite all the apps made to work with iCade out there, they won't work with this unless they program it in. Very frustrating for gamers. I'm grabbing an iCade Mobile:

Which uses the same coding as iCade; iCade support = iCade Mobile support and vice versa.

Similarly, if iCade and iCade Mobile work on something, the upcoming 8-bitty will work:

    As well as iCade Jr.:

So the way I see it, the iCade is the best device to support since so many different devices will be supported already.

had no idea an icade jr was in the works, and forgot all about that controller!

The icade mobile is rather huge like a game gear for what I have seen.

Well, it's wide, but not bigger than a Game Gear. For me it's just a better and more affordable investment than buying an iPad and full iCade (I don't have my iPad 1 anymore, gave it to my mother when I got my Galaxy Tab).

I bought an arcadie and it turned up today, £12.99 from amazon.

Interesting thing is that it's not using keyboard inputs but 6 rubber touch prongs in the case, when you close it they make contact with the screen and recieve their capacitive 'charge' from the charge slot on the iphone. This means that if I can work out which of the 6 prongs touching the screen are certan directions and buttons we can make app's for it without extensions and keyboard inputs.

I will mess around with it over the weekend just to see if it's worth looking into, if you plan to make a game using the bottom half of the phone screen to be a virtual pad this would work.

I wonder if it works with the newer taller iPhone 5 and iPod touch (assuming they even fit in the housing!)?

The new smaller lightning socket will not work, so nope., if it was not for that it would fit into the case as there is breathing room for phones to stick out the top.
