Change colors in an active object

    Hi,
I am interested in being able to change the color scheme of a character using MMF2 rather than having to design new graphics for each color of the character. I would like players to be able to choose the color of their character (an animal). The problem I am having is that the character was created in a graphics program and has some color blending effects, causing a huge number of colors (light yellow, lighter yellow, darker yellow etc.) Is there a way to change the color scheme of the entire character (with a calculation for example) that would allow all of these shades to be appropriately changed from yellow to green shades for example? Thanks,
    Brett

If this is a HWA enabled application this will be possible through shader effects, otherwise you'll have to use the standard RGB colour replace and I'm not 100% sure you would be able to replace all the shades of a particular colour unless you create a subset of RGB values either side to loop through?

I haven't had much dealings with the RGB replace to date so maybe someone else could answer it, the above is just a guess from what I have used/seen so far.

It would be a nightmare to do this with replace color... you'd definitely want to use shaders with HWA if possible.

    Hi,
How do you do this with shader effects and where can I find these? Also, will this work with the Flash and iOS runtimes? Thanks,
    Brett

There are a plethora of shaders freely available both from Complex-Software and Looki's website. Search the forums for shaders and google "MMF2 Shaders". If you download all of what is available there are lots of options available to you, you'll see them by going through them.

They will not work in Flash or iOS.
