I'm having problems making a RSS reader

    Hi,

Working from the example file that comes with the EasyXML extension, I've made a RSS news headline ticker(when you click on the headline, it opens the article in your default web browser). I have it working with one website, but I'm having problems getting RSS feeds from other websites to work.

One of the feeds I'm trying to connect to is available this website: http://www.secularism.org.uk/

If you can help, could you please take a look at the EasyXMLfun example file and try to get the feed to work - or point out why it won't work. Thanks.

Managed to download the the RSS feed, but EasyXML won't parse the title and link elements. Any ideas?

Why should EasyXML parse them? It's not a browser, or even an HTML parser - it just parses XML.
Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

LB, I was trying to get the information from between the <title></title> elements within the XML and add the information to a list object (just as in the RSS reader example that comes with the EasyXML object). I've managed to do this with a feed from one website, but I am having problems with - what I'm assuming is XML - from other websites.

I'm not keyed up on RSS or XML side of things so I thought I'd ask for some help.

I think I've solved the problem. When I originally tested the news ticker, the website I tested it with probably generates pure XML for its feeds. So the ticker worked fine. When I tried to download feeds from other websites, I was getting feeds that contained both HTML & XML - this probably prevented EasyXML from parsing the titles & links. Anyway, I've run a fastloop to remove the offending content and now it seems to be working.

There are probably better ways to go about the above but, judging by the help I got, I guess I'll never know.
