    Loading FLV from local disc

    Hi guys!

I need to load FLV movie from local disc, but I can only see an option to load it from the URL address.
Is there a way to load it from disc?
    Is so- how?

    Thank you in advance! :-)

    Regards
    Dusan

Just set the url to the path of the local flv. Example: "C:\Users\User\Desktop\MyMovie.flv"

    Stephen, thank you very much!
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. It plays FLV from the WEB address but not from the local file. Would you be so kind to peek at the sample and see what am I doing wrong?

    www.bugbrain.com/FLVtest/FLVtest.rar
(just unzip it to the c:/FLVtest directory)

    Thanks in advance!

Flash application run in a sandbox : they have absolutely NO access to the user's machine.
A local URL in the video object will not work.
I do not think there is a solution for what you want, except maybe, setting up a local webserver and playing the video from there.

I forgot to mention that you (or the user) has to allow permission to access local files.

    1. Visit this link.
    2. Click on the third tab.
    3. In the locations at the bottom, add the folder location you wish to allow access to.

Thanks both of you very much for the answer!
I got two opposite answers from two guys who know their business... What should I do? :-)

I was really hoping that Stephen's solution will work- it would save me tons of work. But unfortunately it doesn't... I tried all kind of combinations to assign a file or folder location, but without luck :-(

Thank you anyway- guess I will need to build two separate applications: one for the web (which will show FLV files) and the other for the kiosk computer (which will show AVI file played via animation object + sound as a separate vaw file). I guess this is the only way to be able to show Active object in front of video.
