    Sinking Platforms and Gravity Acceleration problem

    Hi,
    I am having trouble with the Platform Movement Object and some sinking platforms. My character jumps and moves correctly except if the character walks off of a sinking platform. If he jumps off, it is ok, but if he walks off he accelerates downward at a ridiculous speed. I'm thinking this is because the pull of gravity on the character continues to add up as he is sinking (falling) while standing on the platform (an active object). It tried setting the gravity to 0 while on the object and increasing the gravity to 25 once the character is no longer overlapping the object, but this did not seem to work. I have attached the .mfa for reference. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks,

    brett - I can't load your example, since it needs MochiScores and MochiConnector (which I don't have and don't want!)

    brett - I've had a quick look, but really can't see the problem you're describing (ie when walking off a sinking platform, he doesn't seem to fall too fast, eg he doesn't fall straight through other platforms). Perhaps you could upload a simpler example, eg with character already on a sinking platform, so the problem can be seen easily by walking off it. Alternatively link to a video showing the problem with this example.

    A few things to try - are you running the latest version of MMF2 (I'm using v256.24)? Perhaps there's a newer version of the Platform Movement Object?

    Perhaps somebody with more experience of the Platform Movement Object can help you better.

    I decided to reduce the maximum Y velocity on the Platform Movement Object. This seemed to help. Thanks,
