Sugar Rush!

Sugar Rush is my next project to create, it's an adventure - Platform game.
Sugar Rush's main character is "Kup", he has weird eyes and torso is his head.
He loves to eat sugar... If he doesn't eat it he'll die!
There will be a map, which there's different paths to go to.
At the end of the map, there will be obviously a boss.
Beaten a boss? Next map appears...
Every "Ball 'O' Sugar" collected, a new super power will be gained.

Although I don't know how can I create the enemy AI
Any ideas to make it so there will be enemy AI?

What will the enemy do?
Do you want it to run towards the character, wander aimlessly, etc. ?

Some enemies will run towards the player but most of the enemies will run aimlessly.
