    MODable Games

I was wondering... if you made and object or active object from an image file, and you had the feature "Include External Files" turned on, then could you chand an image file and thus change the look of the object in your program/game? In other words, can you easily make your game moddable?

Short answer is Yes. Haven't you asked this before?
Lots of import coding you will need to do.

    Re: MODable Games

The extent of which you can make a game modable is limited in certain areas. What you can do is to create a level editor which reads from external files for tilesets. With this players without MMF2 can make their own levels with their own graphics. However, what cannot be done is to make active objects with external files. This limits the players to just using the original in game.

Perhaps someone could code a powerful extension that allows external tile sheets for animated Active Objects?

    Re: MODable Games

Really? I have always been lead to believe that creating animated Active Objects from a sprite sheet with MMF2 is impossible.

EDIT: I am talking about at runtime here, after all, that is what a mod would have to handle.

Not from a sprite sheet but from invididual image files.. I've done it before.

    See the load frame action.

Ahh, then forgive me, I was mistaken. Still, loading however-many frames through events is hardly ideal.

    Still better than nothing.
