Conter Strangeness - see uploaded file

This is a frame out of an application that I've coded in several different ways, but I always end up with a malfuntion in the counter as follows. And I've spent a lot of time and can't figure out what is wrong. Help would be much appreciated.

After you run the frame: 1) Click on Loop button and then on Use Timer button, 2) Set the time to 20 or so seconds, 3) Click on one of the colored buttons and the timer will start to count down, 4) then before the timer reaches 0, click on the Stop Sound button, 5) Now when you set the timer to more than 20, the counter gets messed up and, 6) If you click on the Do Not Loop button, the counter will become a single integer instead of becoming invisible. When the counter gets messed up, it looks as if the counter is showing two different numbers at the same time.

AHHHHHHHH! It's been driving me batty.
