Few things I do to optimize for many actives:

    1. For any active that you don't need to detect collisions on or that are box in nature disable "Use fine detection"
    2. Make sure any actives that are used in multiple frames have "Global Object" enabled
    3. Deselect "Transparent" for any actives which are simply not (e.g. blocks)

Keith, regarding 2. - i have about 20 frames all with generally the same graphics. Its a single screen game.

What benefit would i get from making them global objects? Generally speed is okay, although i get 40fps on iphone 4 and normal 50fps on ipad2 (and i assume 4s,5).
