    Confused about my product options

Hi, I'm interested in making 2D games (some adventure, some RPG),
but I don't understand what tool it is that I'll need in order to make
this happen. I'm seeing the following:
    - The Games Factory 2
    - MultiMedia Fusion 2
    - MultiMedia Fusion 2 Developer

What attracts me to these (this?) products is the ability to make XNA
projects as well. I'd like this to be useful on Windows phones and an
    Xbox.

I've read the product descriptions for all three and was not able to
figure out the differences between those three things.

Is it possible to make iOS games as well with some plugin?

What's the difference between the those three options?

For iOS and XNA games you will need to use either Multimedia Fusion 2 or Multimedia Fusion 2 Developer.
You can not use those export modules in The Games Factory 2.

Now between Developer and the Standard version --
The biggest benefit for Developer is the logo free/credit free runtime. -- No credit/logo required in your commercial game.
(but we do love a little shout out if possible)

You also get some extensions that are helpful to commercial and more advanced applications.

On the iOS side if you have Developer you also get access to in-app purchasing and iAds -- So those could be a biggie.
Most of our commercial users seem to find in-app purchasing very successful for them.

If your plans are to make freeware hobbist games -- Then the standard version of Multimedia Fusion 2 will be fine for you.

You can always upgrade later to Developer and get full credit for your purchase of the standard version.

Ok, thank you. Just so I'm not totally confused, MF2/MF2D can also make
    games, yes?

What about multi-player support? How is that handled usually?

So the increase in price is the difference between the two software?

Yes, that's correct. They're exactly the same software except as Jeff described, the Developer version allows you to:

    +Create Games without a Credit (MMF2) Screen
+Access to more extensions (Developer-Only Extensions)
+Built-In iAd Support (Put iADS in your iOS games and make additional money)

Multiplayer support is available across the platforms, you will require the Lacewing extensions which are freely available to work with. I don't know what your current level is, but Lacewing will take a bit of studying, although not much and that's what makes MMF2 awesome. There are lots of videos online and examples here on the forums that show you what/how to achieve multiplayer communications with lacewing.

So in short, MMF2 Standard and Dev are the same software except Developer has added bonuses attached to it. If you go to clickteam.com you can do a product comparison and gauge for yourself. The price is adjusted accordingly to the features available. But with both Standard and Dev you'll be able to create iOS and XNA games in no time at all!

It gives you options for installing your product on a user's machine. There should be a full description on the Clickteams' products page.

    Installer Tools:

You don't really need that for things you create with TGF2 or MMF2.
Of course you could use it as its more powerful then the built in installer tool in the products.
Its more for people using C++ or other coding tools.

Patch Maker -- Not really recommended for use with TGF2/MMF2
You won't gain the file size advantages Patch Maker can provide if you try to use it with TGF2/MMF2.
Yes you can gain the update security to make sure an existing version of your app is installed.
