Question Surface 1.5 - Performance boost when overlaying entire screen?

    Hi again,

I'm attempting to make my engine use lightning effects, using the Box2D extension and its raycasting. However, when I apply the surface object over the entire screen (1024 * 768) the performance drop is significant - Even without any events or actions tied to it. Should I look into using Overlay Redux or something similar instead - Since it being older and has less elements to it; it might not make as big of an impact? Or am I assuming falsely here? Or should I give up completely on ever achieving something like this with adequate FPS?

Also, is the surface object dependent on the CPU or the GPU?

    Thanks in beforehand.

Overlay Redux is essentially the old version of the Surface object and will almost certainly make things worse. Same with just about any other similar object - The Surface object is the newest one, and almost certainly the fastest.
