Gamepad in Android games?

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but is it possible to control games created with the Android exporter with a bluetooth gamepad connected to the Android device?
I know that Android 4.x devices can connect to a bluetooth gamepad but will the Android exported game understand this and can I control the game with the gamepad?
I am asking since I find it extremely difficult to play games with the buttons drawn on screen as some game uses - a gamepad would make it much, much easier.

I'm sure there will be an extension at some point, there is already support for OUYA, check that out!

But also consider that if you release an app with gamepad control only (or if you have a game that is very difficult to control without one), your user base will be very small. Try to creatively get around the traditional button presses and joysticks, use the touch screen to your advantage!

Ah, bit I wasn't thinking about a gamepad for a game that I as developing - it is a game that someone else has developed in MMF2 that I would like to utse a gamepad for. So I can't change it.
