    exe works; Flash exported weirdness.

    Hi everyone.

I've been trying to finally make a Flash game with the exporter but have run into something weird. The exe works fine but the exported version is unplayable, although about half of the events appear to be working.

Specifically what happens is, the scrolling level will only scroll about 50 pixels before the whole game starts freaking out; objects that should be destroyed when their animation ends are not and instead start duplicating, collisions with backdrops not registering, max 5fps, and so on. I've experienced weird bugs like this upon reaching the object limit but numObjects shows less than 200 and the level objects limit is set to 20000.

Any advice, or anything I should be checking for? I don't know if I have the most recent version of the exporter or Flash Player but they're not very old if not.

The game uses global events, 4 layers and I tried to keep the number of actives down. There are quite a few backdrop objects: maybe about 200 (of 10 unique objects.) I don't think I'm pushing any limits here. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers!

Hi Francois. Thanks for offering to help

I should get MMF and the Flash exporter up-to-date first and see if that helps.

Where can I get the latest Flash exporter build? Also, if I upgrade MMF Dev will I be able to downgrade it again to a previous version? (currently 256.31)

You can update the Flash exporter at the same time as MMF2 now. Just download the latest version and then it will update every exporter you have installed. I think you can downgrade to a previous version by re-installing the old version, though I'm not sure.

Thanks happygreenfrog. I didn't know they're packaged together. I've spent this evening testing, deleting frames, events, everything I could think of, and it's still producing odd bugs and screen ghosting. I'm always hesitant to upgrade MMF in the middle of a project so maybe the MMF and Flash exporter versions I have are incompatible. I have it all installed on another computer so I'll try upgrading those versions first.

Yeah, if the version of MMF2 you are using is different from the version of the flash exporter you are using, then it will almost certainly cause issues.

Unfortunately, upgrading MMF didn't seem to help. Thank you for offering to help, though.

Francois, I'll try a few more things and see if I can work it out before I send it to you.

It took a while but I've nailed down the cause of the problem.

If I move a certain object outside the playfield it becomes inactive, even though "Destroy object if too far from frame" is unchecked and "Inactivate if too far from window" is set to "No". The object has no movement, isn't global, has only a few events relating to Flag 0. Everything works when compiled as exe but a mess in Flash. If I move the object back inside the playfield even by one pixel, everything is fine. Francois, I'll make an example for you since it looks like an MMF bug.
