So far I have only released one app on the appstore, mostly as a test application to learn. I am planning on using it as a learning experience by updating it with different things. I released it as a payed app, but now I want to try to make it a free app but with ads that can be removed for a small fee to see how that works.

I am a bit unsure how this will affect current users though who have bought the game? I don't want them to have to pay anything of course to remove ads. Is there examples or tutorials on how to make an update like this?

Also is there really any revenue in displaying ads, or is it more in the fact that people can pay a small fee to have them removed? (feels a bit evil.. :P )

You could leave the version you have, and release the new version as a free version. Explain it in the description for the old one. Or, you could have the paid one have features the free one does not.
