Question Couple of questions from a newbie

    Hi all,
I am just trying out the demo version of MMF2 before i decide on a purchase or not and I'm trying to do the following:

    1) Create an RPG movement with scrolling that snaps to grid (grid size is 51x39...odd size i know ). I have seen Nivram's "Custom Grid Movement Example" in action on my friends full version of MMF2 Dev (I'm hoping it works on my demo version...from what i gather its only the extensions that don't work on the demo version?) and the movement itself is exactly what i need, but i would need the speed approximately double what it is...and myself and my friend have no idea how to edit the speed within this. Any ideas?

    2) I would like a frame around the game that stays up permanently whether a player enters a house or remains in the outer world. This frame would hold a counter for the remaining amount of moves this turn. The money that the player has. The players current level etc. Is this possible, and are there examples of this? The rest of the game world would run within a small box inside the frame.

At the moment alterable values for movement are confusing me completely, I guess this will take a little bit of learning before I'm comfortable with this, but so far....I'm loving the flexibility of the program. Looks likely i will be buying this

    Thanks in advance.

For your second question, press Ctrl+k to bring forth the Layer menu. Create a new layer and set its x and y cooefficient to 0. Make this the upper layer, and drag everything that should not move onto this layer.

Hi natrey. Question 1. Isn't that the example that is based on how fast an alterable value is made to go to 0? If so just change that number.

    Hi Marv,
Your example that I'm trying to use is found here
    castles-of-britain.com/mmf2examplespage5.htm

Its named Custom Grid Movement Example. The movement is perfect, but when i have tried to alter some of the values i either break the movement completely or is starts moving more than one block with each press (although when it does this it moves at the speed I'd like :p )

MMF2's layers are excellent for not only the frame you want on top of your game the whole time you could go one step further and create another layer on top of that to use for an inventory screen. Then by using the layer object you could show or hide that inventory screen upon a button press or something. Very useful!

natrey. Try the RPG Movement example instead, or the Fastloop Grid Movement 2.

Thanks. Remember that some of the examples on my site were created by different forum members.
