Flame Object with Direct X 9?

Hey guys, first off, i LOVE the flame object! That thing is sweet! lol here is my problem: I have a few stages in my game where the player is in a cave, so i have the lighting set to the player at a small area and torches and such along the way. Works great, but i need to use direct x 9 to make that work. When i do this, the flame object does not work because i can only get it working when using direct x, so i basically have to make the choice of either keeping my dimly lit cave, or flame object. Other than making flame animations, do you guys know of a work around to make the flame object work with direct x 9 or another object that jives with dx9 to give the same effect?

Guess what? I've been wondering if someone could port it to HWA, since it would need to be ported to HWA to work in it. I guess I'm not the only one who wants it ported to HWA, then...

lol no joke! That thing is awesome! I am using it at the end of the game mainly at this point, similar to how the mother brain fight is in super metroid, the player is all but dead, his friends give him their power and he has a glowing green flame and is invincible, but i would also like to use red flames and things like that for other attacks i just finished up as well. Hopefully someone can hook us up soon! lol. If i could make extensions i would do my best to help out but i have not clue on that stuff, so hats off to the folks that do help us
