    Issue with Joypad and Keyboard

Hey guys, here's my issue. I have an event set for when the joypad is plugged in ("inplugged" lol) then the input device under player is set to 1 (for controller) and when its NOT "inplugged" it sets the input device to 0 (keyboard). It works GREAT when the controller is plugged in, then unplugged. But when i try to start my game up using the keyboard only it has a HUGE drop in framerate, like 10-15fps. Do you guys know of a way around this? Ideally i'd like to be able to give the player an option to choose between the 2, not just one or the other.

Well, first off, are you using the Joystick 2 object? We kinda need to know which object you are using. Also, if you aren't using the Joystick 2 object, then you should start using it instead.

My bad, im using the Joypad Object. I tried downloading the Joystick 2 object, dropped the .mfx files in the extensions and runtime folders and i get an error saying the file can't be found.

Well, you shouldn't use the Joypad object, since it's older and probably isn't supported anymore. Since the issue you've explained seems to be a bug in the object, there isn't really much you can do other than using the Joystick 2 object.

I understand that lol, but do you have any idea why the program says it can't be found? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the extension and had no luck making it work.

I have no idea. Have you tried restarting your computer?

It's what I have installed, so it should fix that problem.

Regarding your other problem, are you constantly switching input to the keyboard? That could cause the slowdown you mentioned. As in, "Always> Set input to keyboard." Try switching that to a "User presses [some debug key]> Set input to keyboard," or create a new application to run some tests.
Thanks Snail! Im not sure if it was the version you gave me or it could be where i dropped it in the HWA folder as well haha, but it showed up now! I'll test it out and see if it works. As for my events, its not an "always" but when the controller is plugged in the input goes to controller, and if its unplugged it goes to keyboard. the problem i was having was if i unplugged the controller to test out the keyboard, it switched perfectly, but if i left it unplugged and started the game it would drag bigtime. Hopefully this will fix it!
