More frames = more duplicate events/objects that aren't needed = more file size. Also, there are the frame properties, so that adds that much extra to the file size as well.

Here is what you can do to save you some effort and file size, if it is too late in development to change it to store graphics externally: Better than storing graphics externally to save file size is storing musics and sounds externally, as those can be quite huge. Give that a try, and see how it works.

Last thing: MMF2.5 will use a smaller MFA file format, so it might not be too big in MMF2.5. If you don't mind paying a little bit of money to upgrade once it is released (it should be released any day now, considering it was supposed to be released around late October/early November, if I remember correctly), then it might save you some effort.

Thanks frog, you're becoming my mentor at this rate.

Is there any official word about MMF 2.5 save system?
If it could compress like final build that would be pretty amazing and solve all my problems at once.
Now it is roughly 2gb -> 200mb. But that would probably extend save times too much so it is not best approach for most users.

Clickteam: If it is not too late, consider adding custom save feature with compress ratio?

    Damn it, headache after headache...

I think that it's going to compress the graphics, J3sseM, though I'm not sure how much it will compress it (it might be as much as the final build, though you might have to wait for someone from Clickteam to know for sure just how much it will compress it).

Yeah. I'm waiting and I hope they notice this thread and could toss an answer.
I really don't know how to continue from here. If MMF 2.5 allows me to continue like I've been working so far it should be worth the wait. If not it would be great to know now, so I could start planning where to go from here.

Building a level loader sounds at the same time very tempting and horrifying. But re-writing the code.. uh.

You'd only have to re-build the levels if you made a level builder, and you'd also have to, of course, build the level editor, and add the code for level loader for the game itself (none of them are too hard when you know how to, I've done it before quite a few times).

    Hymm...
If I needed to create something like that, I would probably create levels to layers. I think there is layer extensions which could make things easier to organize. Use black block to fade in and out as transitions.
But then I would need to create and destroy objects when I change the level. And it would be scary to have all the objects in one frame. Dunno, I could play around with the idea.

I noticed that around 80% of my MFA size is because of animations. Not much I can do about it. One solution is to start new, and create all the animations in real time with angles and stuff.

I'd wait for someone from Clickteam to respond to the MMF2.5 compression thing. I advise you go on to ClickConverse and then ask one of the admins who is online on there (if there is an admin online right now, anyway (you can keep checking back if there isn't one online)).
