    Importing animation

Hi, I have question about importing animation in MMF2

I know that there are a few options for doing this:

    * Create an animation file (.gif, .avi, etc) and import the individual frames from that.

    * Save each frame of animation as a different, numbered file, and have MMF2 import them automatically in sequence.

    * Create a single spritesheet image, and have MMF2 automatically extract the individual frames from it.

I'm going to focus on the last option because I have some spritesheet and want to make my animation

I know that each frame of animation must be enclosed in a box 1 pixel thick, and each box must be separated from the next by at least 1 pixel.
So I picked up my sheet and with paint I made a grid that contain every frame of the spritesheet.. but when I attempt to import it I have a sigle file .png as original

    where I wrong??

    this is the modified file

    this is the original file

I don't believe MMF2 actually support the third option. MMF2.5, however, will, from the sounds of things:

    http://community.clickteam.com/threads/82845-Fusion-2-5-feature-list

    Picture editor

    - You can drop files to the picture editor
    - Better import / export features (you can now import or export sprite sheets, set the hot spot at predefined positions, crop the images, zoom in the preview)
    - You can swap the drawing colors
    - The zoom is now done at the mouse position
    - New 'G' button in the hotspot tool to set the hotspot to the center of mass of the image
    - New RGB and hexadecimal color edit boxes
I've made the key area bold and italic, and underlined the even more key area. I think it is only going to be supported in MMF2.5. Could you perhaps tell me who told you that MMF2 supported sprite sheet importing like that? I'm just kinda curious about that.

I don't know how to do that, but the middle point (Save each frame of animation as a different, numbered file, and have MMF2 import them automatically in sequence. ) can only be done, if I'm wrong. Correct me!

EDIT: Nevermind, Green Frog Ninja'd be

Did you make sure to check the "box mode" and "import as animation" options, and then hitting okay? The article says you need to for it to work.

The article says it all, too bad the pictures are gone :/
Anyway, I don't know if it's a must(though I believe so) but are the 'boxes' evenly spaced and same size?

    Right. Here's how to do it;

    1. Make an image / spritesheet with 32x32 grid (Best colour Bright Purple or Black) (All grid squares must be the same width and height) like:

    2. Click the export button in the mmf2 sprite editor

    3. choose your image

    4. Select box mode and import as animation

    5. Pick your border's colour, must be the same as the grid's colour or it won't work.

    6. Click OK and you're done

Sorry - I'm the one who wrote that article on The Daily Click, and never got around to fixing the broken image links. I've just re-uploaded the pics to a different host, and updated the article, so it should work fine now: http://www.create-games.com/article.asp?id=2261

Note that it's not quite like BartekB described (and possibly not *exactly* as I described in the article, if you're using an image with alpha channel transparency ).

    eg.

    These are the original pics:
    ExampleSprites.png1.png2.png3.jpg4.png

ps. If anyone knows any *reliable* image hosts that allow hotlinking, please let me know
