Hi NZSum, we want to help you, but can you clarify what you mean?

Are you shooting an active object somewhere, and it needs to look like it's going through a hole, or? There are many possibilities

I'm looking to make a game where an object flies through a series of holes in consecutive panels, so the object (bullet, arrow, grenade, doesnt matter) either goes through, or bounces off. Its easy in side-on view, but i want to make it 3/4 view. So it seems to go behind, then through, then in front of the first, then behind the next panel, where it either bounces off or, if its in line with a hole, will go through. I can do it if I split the panels up the y axis, and make one half a background object, but thats pretty clunky. I looked at using layers, but i dont know enough about them to do that. Any ideas? thanks.

Splitting the panels is the most common solution, but I'd recommend instead creating invisible actives at your tile size that you collide against instead, and then just put those where you want to register collisions. My personal preference is to make them red and semitransparent and then just make them invisible at start of frame.
