Can any text objects interpret or support non-English font?

Do any any of the text objects support non-English fonts so I don't end up with a bunch of garbled text? Is this only possible by embedding fonts for every language?

For example, the Wikipedia text from "Kyoto" provides:
"Kyoto (京都市, Kyōto-shi?) (Japanese pronunciation: [kʲoːꜜto] ( )) historically known as..."

    Instead of:
"Kyoto (京都市, Kyōto-shi) (Japanese pronunciation: [kʲoːꜜto] ( listen)) historically known as..."
