Email object: retrieving pop with VERY slow Internet

How can I safeguard my program to only start a routine once all pop messages have been pulled down, even when the Internet connection is super slow?

As it stands, one or two get pulled, the program thinks the total pop emails has been pulled down and starts doing its routine...then a few more pop messages get pulled down too! This is only an issue on slow connections but it's indicitive of a hole in my program. Any help is appreciated!

I should mention I currently tell the routine to start when a value equals the number of messages on the pop server.

    Ex:
Val A = Pop Messages on server: start routine
