every time i save a project the project is replaced by a thing named the file name plus the extension .001 and the actual project is moved somewhere else on my desktop. this is really annoying and if anyone could help that would be great.

The .001 file afaik is just a backup. You can change the extension to .mfa and you should be able to just load it up like normal... why the regular .mfa gets moved, I have no clue though.

Are you sure the actual project .mfa is getting moved?

You can set the preferences of auto backups for your project in the settings of MMF2 and clickteam Fusion. I believe the default numbers is 3 backups. The first time you save the project file, the .mfa is saved and a file with the .001 extension. This .001 is an exact copy of the .mfa file saved. The second time you save, it saves to .002. The third time to .003. The fourth time you save, it save over the file with the .001 extension and so forth. You are able to open all the .001, .002, etc files in MMF2 and Clickteam Fusion
