Question Fusion 2.5 Modability and Dev Version

I am very interested in purchasing Fusion 2.5, but I would appreciate it if I could get answers to a couple things.

Firstly, just how open source is the program? Can we go into the scripting like RGSS in RPG Maker XP and pull off more advanced coding?

Secondly, if I buy the version that is not the developer version, will I still be able to sell my game? If so, what are some things that really make the dev version worth purchasing over the normal version?

    Thanks everyone!

First off, welcome to the forums!

Second off, I'll answer those questions as best as I can:

    1. Sort of. There isn't any official, built-in scripting (the whole point of the program is that you can make anything without using a complicated scripting system), but you can make extensions using C++ and the extension SDK, which allows you to add the few features that CF2.5 doesn't have with the already-existing extensions. There are also a few scripting extensions available, made using said extension SDK, but, as far as I know, all of them are Windows-only.

Also, if you haven't already given it a try, there is a demo here: http://www.clickteam.com/clickteam-fusion-2-5-free-edition

It has some limitations that the full version doesn't, but it should get you an idea on what making games with it is like.

    2. You can sell games with CF2.5 Standard. Just note that you have to include a "made with CF2.5" logo in your game (if I remember correctly, though you might only have to mention that in the credits or something). In CF2.5 DEV, you don't have to include any logos mentioning your game was made in CF2.5 at all. One way I've put it before (albeit in a shorter way), and it's a way of putting it that I still find accurate, is this: CF2.5 is mainly for hobbyist developers who don't really care too much about making money from their games, and CF2.5 DEV is for those who really want to make money from their games. The whole "you don't have to mention it was made with CF2.5" thing is one thing that indicates as much, but that alone doesn't make that very clear. What does, though, is the fact that, in the Android and iOS runtimes, you can only include ads in your app in CF2.5 DEV.

Also, on that note, if you get Standard and later decide you want Dev, then you can get an upgrade discount here: http://www.clickteam.com/upgrade-request

The discount basically removes the price of Standard from the price of Dev, so it over all costs only the exact price of Dev in the event that you get Standard first.

Fusion 2.5 is 1 million times more flexible and powerful than any software in the RPG maker line. You can make just about any kind of 2D game you can imagine.
