KALABAN - A sidescroller survival horror [WIP]

Hello there!

We're a small media house from Finland called Rayhouse Productions. Currently we're working on the survival horror game Kalaban: The Shadowbook.

The story is set in an alternate version of the Finland in the year 1995. The main character in the game is Bob, a hermit living in the woods who stumbles accross some weird events unfolding around him. Turns out a cult has discovered an ancient book which has the power to bring inanimate objects to life. The player has to survive through these creatures, defeat the cult and destroy the book. The foes include stickfigures, shadows and other "golem" type enemies.

Story of the game is gone through ingame dialogue and a player diary, which reflects the events unraveling around him. The game has small crafting features, like being able to make torches, molotov cocktails and armor plates. The survival aspect of the game comes from also having to eat in order to stay alive. The game graphics combine fully hand-animated characters and 3D -> 2D prerendered backgrounds.

We've planned on a Steam release, but first we have to apply for the Greenlight with the project. We're currently expanding the basic test demo and planning where to take the story next.

No gameplay trailer yet, mainly because there are no sounds in the game yet. The audio and music are next in line to be made.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the game is made with Fusion 2.5 and it's for the PC.

The music is very creepy and those shadowy figures are freaky. Only problem is they maybe hard to see but that might be what your aiming for.

Sound is definitely going to be very important in trying to keep the atmosphere tense.
