    Question Help with Vertical Layers

    Hello Clickteam,

I want to create a game sort of like Paper Boy from the NES. Its going to be a delivery game that scrolls vertically. I found a great formula on the forums that always scrolls the screen downwards, it creates the illusion of my van driving vertically automatically. I read somewhere about creating layers and positioning them at the point my van would meet the end of the current screen. I'm limited in my knowledge on layers and how to make them and position them so it looks like my level is endless. I appreciate anyone who can help. Thanks people!

    Snail,

Are layers like new frames within the main frame? Lets say when my van is driving upwards and is at the end of the frame, I want to position a new frame with different buildings, roads, and environment so the level doesn't get repetitive. Would I use layers?

Thanks Snail. I've been researching vertical scrolling for awhile now. It seems like a pretty popular topic. -1 Virtual Height scrolls the screen up but not down. I tried that method and I didn't like it either. I'll try resizing the frame humongous and placing my car at the bottom. It just seems like there should be a tutorial on this topic, not just the basic scrolling one on the website. Once I figure this out, and get better at Fusion 2.5 which will take awhile, I'll post a killer tutorial on scrolling.

    Snail,

Just an update. I followed this example that you suggested and find that it works best! I have unlimited vertical scrolling and creativity.

    3. Match the height and virtual height of the frame to the window and then create the scrolling effect yourself and create objects using the event editor. This is the most powerful (and complex) method but it's my preference because of the increased flexibility.
