    Unhappy bare-minimum testing (2.3.7 gingerbread)

im helping a friend of mine to test his APKs with my old phone
he told me to come here and post about since i have the "bare minimum"
and maybe i can help others testing with the lowest hardware too
(i dont mind helping others if they want since it can help everyone) :P

first of all here are the errors im getting trying to run these apps:-
"The application has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
and one of the alternate builds says:-
"This application requires a GPU, but none was detected."

...he said i dont need a GPU
and this documentation says the same:-
    Android_Introduction.pdf
"Applications created with Clickteam Fusion 2.5 will run on Android devices without GPU but they will be very slow."
    is this information still valid?

    and now about my phone:-
    Motorola Cliq XT MB501
    android: 2.3.7
    firmware: cyanogenmod 7.2.0
CPU: Single core, 528 MHz, ARMv6-compatible processor rev 2 (v6l)
    display: 320x480 pixels / 65536 colours
    System memory: 256MB RAM / 512MB ROM

he said its already built at that resolution and colour depth
    so...
    it should work!

so anyway i hope someone can help us out
im sure ur all very interested in supporting as many devices as possible
what can i tell him and what can i expect for myself if i start to develop???
as what i have is like the bare minimum of what SHOULD be compatible
and im very interested in getting fusion for myself
but of course first i want to know if i can deploy to my phone myself...

    thanks for the reply!!

yes he said he doesnt 'require GPU' in his android settings
yes the phone its been flashed to cyanogenmod 7.2.0

i have been reading a lot here and we have 1 more thing to try...
changing openGL setting from 1.1 to 2.0
for some crazy reason ... this might be it

still no luck with openGL 2.0 set

i looked it up and apparently gingerbread needs API 10
but he said that 14 is the lowest that can be set???

    is this correct???
and that gingerbread is actually not supported???
    this is really sad

does anyone have or know where there's a APK of a project that should actually run
because right now im thinking nothing is ever going to work on 2.3.7

mm you should be working with api 16 set min 2.3.1 and target 3.0 for example.

but I think the problem here is the opengl version

I think it have an adreno 130 very old and it is something 1.X and posible non 1.1 so it won't work if is 1.0

so this information is actually no longer correct and false?:-
"Applications created with Clickteam Fusion 2.5 will run on Android devices without GPU but they will be very slow."

if you uncheck gpu it should.

what we are talking here is a device that have gpu but is lower of 1.1 or 2.0

but here you are talking about a mod rom, which happens to have a mix of several codes, patching the device to make it work, many of them have opengl drivers tweak, e.g: my gtablet have now 4.1 from 2.2 but is still using old opengl drivers

so please does something for me if you can there.

ask to user install CPU-Z and AntuTu Benchmark and post the result here

    for CPU-Z

    two screen "device" and "screen"

    AnTuTu

run the test and post the third tab "info" subsection Display

    ouch
it looks like i have bigger problems with my phone

i get the same message trying to run CPU-Z
    "stopped unexpectedly"

it says CPU-Z needs minimum of Android 2.2
yet in "about phone" it says i have 2.3.7
it says the same thing at http://whatismyandroidversion.com

so i might need to try some different firmwares first
and will get back to you
    thanks!!
