    Acceptable Memory Usage for PC?

    I'm curious what is considered acceptable in terms of memory when running an MMF2 game on PC. I imagine it doesn't really matter as much as with iOS/Android, but I noticed my game seems to be hovering around the 300MB mark, and my old (really, REALLY old Win XP) netbook doesn't run it well at all. I'll have it tested on various hardware soon I hope, but I'm just looking to see if 300MB is okay?

    Depending on the netbook, it may not have the CPU nor GPU to really push a 2d game with a lot of objects, or a bunch or large objects, especially if you have the game running at a decent resolution. Windows XP loves having at least 1-2GB of RAM. If you can get to a library, or use a friend's PC, put the game's .exe (not an install file) on a USB flash drive, and try running it from there (or see if they will let you temp copy it over to test) and see how it performs on their system's specs.

    You can run dxdiag.exe on windows and save the .txt file when given the opportunity to do so, to see your specifications and you friend's system if you can. Most modern full fledged PCs (laptops and desktops) should be able to run Fusion 2.0 and 2.5 made .exes.

    I usually try and keep any windows executables I make, to run in under 512mb of usage, although I usually work on smaller games.
