    Three Clickteam Specific Palettes

    Hi All,

I hope that this is the most appropriate place to post these. This is the first time I've shared any files on the forums.

An old friend and I running our own game jam and one of the restrictions we've placed on ourselves is 4 colour palettes only.

To get a bit of a head start, I made 3 palettes this morning and I'm happy with how they turned out. Each includes the RGB values of each colour.
Why am I sharing here rather than on a more general videogame palette site? Because these are "optimised" for Clickteam, in so much as each colour exists within the default palette of the built-in editor. This makes it really quick to do edits as you learn 'where' the colour is (and don't have to keep selecting the dropper tool). This makes them a lot quicker to work with.

    So, without further ado.

    Palette:"Tinytim"
Notes: Strain your eyes unnecessarily with this murky green palette. Use to simulate a popular handheld.
    Colours (top to bottom):
    1. You call that white?
    2. Goblin Green
    3. Swap Ivy
    4. Stagnant Lagoon

    Palette:"So 80's"
Notes: It may have been acceptable then, but who'd choose these colours now? Use to simulate CGA games, or to coordinate a narcotics bust that you're conducting off the books.
    Colours (top to bottom):
    1. Bolivian White
    2. Cloudless Blue
    3. Flamingo Pink
    4. Burnt-in CRT 'Black'

    Palette:"Midnight Shadows"
Notes: Inspired by Lemmings 2's Shadow Tribe. Use for Splinter Cell Demakes, or 2D re-imaginings of Zork.
    Colours (top to bottom):
    1. Sodium Vapour
    2. Stealth Grey
    3. Moonlit Sky
    4. Coalmine at Midnight

Would be cool to see any projects you make that use these and if they're helpful, give me a shout out in your game (but this is not necessary).

The way I do it is:
In a paint program I put the colors I want in a blank object. Put it on the clipboard. In ctf F2.5 >new object>active. Double click the active and paste the palette into the active.

Marv: I think he meant how do you import the palette so it overwrites the CF2.5 one? Or am I wrong here? Personally, I have no clue. :P But I wish palettes were a part of CF2.5.

Thats a neat idea Marv, and probably the way i would have ended up going about it if i decided to settup a custom palette.

Im however referring to editing/ customizing the Palette inside Fusion ( Animation Frame Editor for example ).
Reason im asking is i was helping someone looking at their .mfa and saw this palette settup, clearly not being the standard Palette:

I think it's under "frame properties - settings"
    "palette" button
guess you can load your own default palette for the frame there
but I never used this (cool) feature so can't add much more

CeriJC, seems like I can't open your palette files?
    Some forum issue maybe?

    This an interesting argument,
I'll surely check in depth palette swaps in the future

CeriJC, thanks for sharing those palettes. It's always nice to see the community sharing resources.

Importing palettes is quite straightforward - click on the frame properties and import a palette file - but creating your own palette requires you to arrange and save the colours in a very specific way and comes with some quirks like not being able to replace the first and last few.

A few months ago, I released a (free) Fusion palette editor called Palette Pallet: http://community.clickteam.com/threads/92574-Palette-Pallet-Palette-editor-for-Fusion-Finished and also released a bunch of retro palettes you can import straight into Fusion. If you guys want to create your own palettes, hopefully this will make it easier.

Edit: Hm, I can't access the attachments in CeriJC's original post either. By the way, how did you make them? I wasn't able to find a program that would allow me to quickly arrange the palette, which is why I made PP.
