Help: Android build failed?

Hi
I have followed the torurial for creating and Android build ( Android phone also in Developer Mode and connected ).
I get this error log ( just the bottom part of the log ):


BUILD FAILED
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\tools\ant\build.xml:716: The following error occurred while executing this line:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\tools\ant\build.xml:730: Unable to find a javac compiler;
com.sun.tools.javac.Main is not on the classpath.
Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK.
It is currently set to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_71"

Does this mean there is a problem with the java installation on my computer?
Why cant i complete the Android build?


EDIT: Im pressing the 'build and run' and then get this message

point it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.8.0_31 (or whatever in your case starts with jdk1.........

not the JRE
