I'm having the worst time with HTML5.

    Hey Clickteam,

I'll start by saying my inexperience with game making is probably the issue but I'm having the hardest time figuring out why my frames run so slow with HTML5. I've been working on my first ever game after discovering Clickteam late in 2014! Now, not having much experience with game creating, I never thought about frame speed, exporting, scaling tips, etc... I just assumed if it runs when I test the MFA frame, it works perfect. But boy have I learned so much. I recently just finished my first game and am ready to export. I purchased HTML5 so my game can run on multiple operating systems. My application is 640 x 480. I'm finding most levels that stay in this frame size and have limited background objects, active objects etc work fine. But it's the scrolling levels with larger frame sizes that give me 10 fps and slower. I'm just confused why would one frame slow down so much? How could someone build any kind of big game with HTML5? Has anyone run into these slow down issues in their game? Do you have tips on how to speed up games with HTML5? Thanks Clickers!

You are right about massive slow down. I have no idea why. I'm sorry I can't help. Maybe someone with more HTLM experience will chime in.

    Well thanks for looking Klik-iT!

I had another scrolling frame, not as big as this one, that caused me slow downs. A forum user helped me with suggestions such as down sizing backgrounds, eliminating useless actives, etc that helped the frame run properly. But I just don't understand where the slow downs take place and why? Being a newer user of Clickteam products, they sold me on "making a game with no experience." This is so true and I love CLickteam, recently updated to Developer , but I just built my whole game using the skills I possessed at the time without knowing how slow it would be once I tried to export. I just don't understand how any games can be made and run smoothly with HTML5 if my little game is running that slow? Yeah, hopefully someone can pitch in!

Well,.I did notice there are 429 objects. Most are Quick Backdrops. So what I did was delete most of them and the frame rate ran at 60fps in my browser. Like I said, I don't spend any time with HTLM, so not sure of what the issue is, but seems to many objects. Maybe you can try to make one big backdrop object for the background and leave the obstacle quick backdrop objects alone. Worth a shot.

Oh great KLiK-iT!!! That's exciting. So it seems like it's not the events but the backdrops, big relief! I can easily change the backdrops. I appreciate you looking into my level. I'm learning so much just by trial and error and mostly by you guys in the forum! Thanks.

The best tip I can give you is to test while building the application in the runtime your using the entire time. Saves a lot of time when things like this happen. Good luck with your game. Lets us know the outcome.

Downloaded. Will check this out tomorrow and hopefully give you some better insight. I have a feeling it probably will be a case of optimisation needed.

    Hahaha. I agree Danny!

I made some great progress by downsizing or eliminating huge backgrounds in other frames. Thank you sir! This is my first experience in game making, exporting, etc... So I know it's mostly my poor designs and understanding of game creation/exporting, which is getting slowly better. But the forum has helped me so much on this journey!!! Let me know brother!
