See if the counter was previously more or less than it is now?

Hi there, I have a counter that goes from 0 to 11 via the user dragging on a control.

Is there a way I can query what the counter was before the number it is now?

So say the counter is moved to 6, is there a way to see if it was previously 5 or 7?
