Yeah Schrodinger, is there a reason why it looks so bad in the animation editor?

Don't know actually!
I guess the rotation algorithm in the animation editor is a bit clumsy
maybe some old solution that has never been updated,
due to other better solutions already existing
(but this is just a guess of course)

This is the runtime rotation using degrees I'm talking about, not canned animations. Though it would appear that the actionpoint could possibly only be updated when it hits one of the built in 32 directions. Maybe this was done on the backside to speed up calculations, only update the actionpoint when the angle of the object hits one of the base 32 direction.

with time and comfort, could you provide an example of this issue, or tell how to reproduce?
Would be something interesting to clear out!

just rotating an object and seeing where the action point goes doesn't seem to give issues:
