    Check for dx9 shader capability?

    Hi everyone.

So, I'm making a game in CF2.5. I'm also using Looki's Shader Pack for some effects in the game.
Previously, I've been developing this using a DX9-capable video card.
When testing it on an older video card (Intel Extreme Graphics 2), visual rendering of the objects is absymal.
    The graphics are severely glitched.
Is there a way (or an extension) which can retrieve graphics card details and close the application if the video card can't do DX9 by hardware?

    Thanks,
    zv45beta

Sorry that I'm not answering your question (because I don't know the answer), but...does this even matter?

The probability of your players having a pre-DX9 card is very low - I'm amazed you could even find a pre-DX9 card to test with.

It sounds like you're not willing to support that hardware anyway, so just do what most games do and provide a "minimum requirements" section on the description of your game. I think anyone who plays games on 13+ year old hardware is prepared for the possibility that they don't all work properly.

Volnaiskra. What you say is part of the problem that computer gamers are forced to upgrade to be able to play some games. This is IMHO.

Games drive more hardware sales then anything else.
I remember the old days I always had to get more ram, a new video card, a better processor everytime the latest and greatest game came out.
Luckily this slow down alot in the recent years.

I think you will just have to make your minimum specs for people who want to play your game.
