Need advices for a platform game

    Hello !
I'm a beginner and I'm trying to create a platform game. I need some advices in order to progress !

Currently, for my main character, I used a movement system learn since a tutorial (Fastloom platform. Find since this site : biblioklik.free.fr/MMF2/04sources/sources04.htm) but I often hear some informations about « platform movement object » extension. Should I continue with my actual movement system, or use the extension if it makes my character's movement better ?

And, more generally, for the long run, should I use the method of programming learned with the tutorial or there are others methods more clean, more adapted, more practice for a more consequent game ?

And a second question : it is not really conceivable to create all maps in the same scene... But rewrite all the events for each scenes is not much better.
Also is it possible to create events who work in several scenes ? Or there is an other equivalent solution ?

    Thank you !

Hey dude, welcome to the forums
I'm not that advanced myself, so am not the best to answer.

    1) I would say, yes, if u are a beginner then use the platform movement object (PMO) extension, as it does most of the hard work for u.
    2) Still havn't figured this one out myself yet. Probly best to do it all in one scene & create a map editor for the levels, altho i still don't know how to do that myself
if u do it in seperate scenes, then try to put ur events in groups, so u can copy the groups over (it'l be the same as rewriting, just a bit cleaner)

hopefully someone with more experience can give u better answers, just didn't want to leave ur comment hanging lol

i recommend just trying a simple little platform game with boxes as graphics, & jus see which system feels best for you, before u start making the real game with all the graphical work.

    best of luck

    Hey Naiyro,

I agree with Shinbaxter about the PMO Extension.

Also, check out Sparckman's videos! He makes a ton of easy to learn and use examples. Here is a link to his youtube page,

You might need to look into making a level editor for question #2.
