Adapting an old Reality Ultimate Contruction Amiga game

About 22 years ago I started making a game on my Amiga 500+ using "Reality: The Ultimate Software Construction Kit v1.0". I got as far as creating all the tiles, sprites and the game map. Unfortunately I didn't get any further, never progressing beyond written notes (which thankfully I still have after all this time!). Fast forward to 2016 and I've managed to convert all my original .iff images, on the floppies I kept, to .png (a long tedious process using complicated hardware) along with re-creating the game map in MMF2 by having Reality running in WinUAE with .adf conversions of my original floppies.

In my previous game I didn't bother with climbing animations while on ladders as my game was designed to be like a ZX Spectrum, so it was quite basic. For my second game though (to be like the Amiga) I want proper climbing animations but I can't get climbing to animate using David Newton's Custom Platform Movement.

I have another issue with this project that differs quite a lot from my previous game. Along with the lack of climbing animation while on ladders, I have a problem with my screen scrolling. As a flick screen game like the old Dizzy games I've used the screen swapping routine from my last game, Lunatic. Unfortunately the large HUD at the bottom of each screen is causing me some grief.

See the .mfa here in my Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o7v15qs9zj...%2010.mfa?dl=0

Trying to get my screen swapping to work vertically with the 96 pixels high space between "rooms" is giving me a headache. If you climb the ladder up and down the screen swaps from room 1 to 19 and back again very well but the player is lost behind the HUD for too long (or would be if it were an active).

I'd like try to stick with the original Amiga design if possible.

Any help would be much appreciated. Please note I only have MMF2 so if you load up my .mfa in Fusion 2.5 and send me the file I won't be able to open it.

I've sorted the problem with the screen swapping. I added actives to change the Y position of the player so when they go behind the status bar (or HUD) they are pushed down if moving down and up if moving up to quickly get past it. Seems to work fine.

Still can't any climbing animations to work on ladders though (Y position changing actives, not Platform Movement object type ladders I mean).
