    Platform Movement Object and Problems

Hello! I have been using CT Fusion for a few days now and it's been a nightmare. I downloaded a tutorial from this site, Horizontal Platform Movement With PMO, and I set up my character exactly as it was in the demo. My file does nothing similar to the demo. Can someone please, for the love of the gods, explain to me just why it doesn't work for me no matter what I do? I set up my events just like the demo and I get nothing.

All I want to know is what the functions do. Because it seems like the people making tutorials get extremely different results from the same buttons.
